Dr. Marios Clerides<\/strong> <\/p>\n Marios Clerides studied at the London School of Economics, where he obtained a BSc, MSc, and PhD in economics in 1982. In 1982, he was hired by the Hellenic Bank in the Planning and Economic Studies Department. He was involved in various projects such as the introduction of ATMs at the Bank, the integration of Barclays Bank’s operations, etc. From 2001 to 2006, he served as Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission on a five-year contract. During this period, the Hellenic Capital Market Commission harmonized with the acquis communautaire and assumed its supervisory responsibilities. From 2006 to 2014, he returned to the Hellenic Bank as Group General Manager in the Risk Management Department. During this period, he managed the Greek bond crisis and represented the Bank in the Troika. In January 2014, he left the Hellenic Bank and took up the position of General Manager at the Cooperative Central Bank, from which he resigned in September 2015. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Bankers Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Economic Research Association, member of the National Council of Economic Advisors (Pissarides Committee), and various Boards of Financial Institutions and Public Companies. He is a member of the Board of the Center for Economic Research at the University of Cyprus.
