Valentin LAZEA is the Chief Economist of the National Bank of Romania, as well as the President of CA TransFonD S.A. He is also a founding member and President of the Steering Committee of the Romanian Economic Policy Center (CEROPE). He attended advanced training courses at prestigious institutions, such as: IMF Institute, Washington D.C., USA; Sussex University, Brighton, UK; Instituto Giordano dell’Amore, Milan, Italy.

 

He has published, as an author or co-author, numerous studies and specialized books, among which we mention: the best seller A Moral History of Monetary and Fiscal Policies, Publica, 2023; Prioritization of EU policies in the process of reviewing the EU budget, CEROPE, 2012; Economic growth and convergence, Mustang, Bucharest, 2008 (editor); Structural changes in the Romanian economy after integration, CEROPE, 2007; Environmental taxes in Romania, CEROPE, 2006; The EU and Romania: Accession and Beyond, The Federal Trust, London, 2006 (co-author); Methods of measuring the quasi-fiscal deficit in Romania, CEROPE, 2005; Estimation of the Balassa-Samuelson effect in Romania, CEROPE, 2003; Rural development and agricultural reform in Romania, CEROPE, 2004; Structural changes and economic performance in Romania, IRLI Publishing House, Bucharest, 2003 (co-editor, co-author); Conditionality in the financial-banking field for Romania’s admission to the EU, CEROPE, 1999. He also participated in technical assistance programs for the National Forecasting Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, financed by PHARE funds, between 2001-2007.
